October 23, 2018 – “Raising Our Game” co-chairs Doug Porter ’78 and Tom Scott ’78 this week issued the campaign’s fall report, asking alumni to consider DU in their year-end giving.
Planning for summer 2019 renovations is underway, but will soon face a critical deadline. “We have plans to upgrade the bathroom facilities, continue to improve the downstairs for social gatherings and enhance the kitchen functionality in the coming summers,” the fall report states. “But the plans are just plans until we can activate them with the necessary funds.”
To date, the campaign has funded significant improvements in the Great Hall, including new doors, windows, floor, furniture, murals and lighting. The library was completely transformed, with study carrels, library table, printer, club chairs and cabinets, as well as new ceiling, lighting and carpeting. “The best place to study on campus,” one brother called it.
Another highlight are the library’s new cabinets, now well populated with historical DU images, documents and memorabilia, dating back from 1869 to the 1970s.
We need your help before the end of the year. If you have outstanding pledges, please consider paying off the pledges early, so we can commit to next summer’s renovations. If you have already fulfilled your gift, please consider another generous gift; if you haven’t made a gift yet, get inspired and do so today, the report closes.
